Nail Polish Addiction Warning and My Blog Plans for 2012

Nail polish can be dangerous for your wallet especially if your addicted. I got addicted to nail polish about halfway through 2011 and have since spent $1215.26 on nail polish and nail related things. Did your jaw just drop? Mine did. To put this in perspective, here is a photo of my nail polish collection before getting addicted:

Nice safe colours, purple, pink and french tip. Now here is a photo of my collection after getting addicted:

All the colours of the rainbow! My entire collection is listed here.

So a few things are going to change this year:

  • I'm on a nail polish budget of $60/month. To some of you that might sound expensive and other may think it's not enough, but for me it's a big cut down. It's roughly $720 for the whole year, compared to the over $1200 I spent in 6 months last year. I'm going to keep track of my budget in the right hand side bar.
  • I'm going to try to do a No Buy July. I might even try one of those 30 Day Nail challenges to keep me going. If you know of any feel free to suggest them in the comments below.
  • I'm going to have a Go Crazy May where I'm not on a budget. I'm going to Bali in May for just over 2 weeks and plan to buy whatever I like. I don't want to be restricted. Hopefully they have lots of good brands fairly cheap there. I went to Bali in 2010 but didn't notice the nail polish because I wasn't that into it. I will have to keep an eye on the weight though, luckily I'm going with my boyfriend so if I need to I can put some in his bags.
  • I'm going to do more nail art. I won't be able to afford 30 nail polishes a month but I'd still like to post something daily so some days will be nail art.
  • I've got frankenpolish supplies that I haven't really used, so you might see some frankens on here too.
I hope you will all be alright with these changes. I really appreciate your support and I hope I can keep this up! Also, if I go over my budget feel free to let me hear about it to discourage me from doing it again :)

  4. I can't believe you kept track of your expenses. I'd be horrified if I added it all up! But that certainly was some good shopping you did. I love the sound of you plans for the year!

  5. Haha yes I'm pretty organised when it comes to money. It wasn't long before it started adding up and I was curious to see how much I was spending so I started tracking it.
