Essie My Better Half & She's Picture Perfect

My Better Half is a pink shimmer. She's Picture Perfect is a lilac creme with a purple shimmer. Unfortunately I couldn't capture the purple shimmer in my pictures. Both shades had a great formula, I used three coats for each swatch.

Lilacism is from the Art Of Spring collection 2010. It's a pale lilac creme polish. It had a slightly watery formula but I was able to mange it. I bought this from Myer. Essie normally retails at $18.95 but I got this really cheap. Myer sent me a $10 gift voucher because I had not shopped there in a while so I thought I'd use it to buy one polish. The Essie polishes were also 30% Off so I only had to fork out $3.26 for this. Bargain!

Over The Top is a dark grey metallic colour. In the light it's like I can almost see specks of other colours, purple, green and blue but I'm not sure if it's just my eyes trying to make sense of the metallic shimmer. You can see a few of the specks in the sunlight photo above.

Steel-ing the scene is described on the Essie website as a burnished pewter creme. I think it's more of a shimmery pewter frost. The brush stroke marks are very visible so try to keep them straight. Frost nail polishes always give me that Grandma-ish feeling. Just noticed that I should have held the bottle the other way around so the word "essie" wasn't upside-down in all my photos. Whoops!

Trophy Wife is a medium green shimmer. It's more green toned and less blue toned than in my photos. This one just didn't want to photograph correctly. It's closer to the colour of Sally Hansen - Pixel Pretty if you have that one. The brush strokes are slightly visible after drying. I got this from Trans Design for $4.


I've changed the layout of my blog slightly and made the pictures bigger. What do you think? I'd love to hear your feedback, whether it's good or bad.

Jamaica Me Crazy is a bright pink shimmer. The sunlight photo above is the most accurate. I think I can still see a visible nail line in the photo above but it's only very slight. If you have to have 100% coverage you might want to do 4 coats. I got this from Trans Design for $4.

Dive Bar is a dark metallic teal colour. I saw purple on the edges of the bottle but none of that appeared on the nail. You can see a little of the purple in the bottle picture. This is my first Essie other than Matte About You and I'm impressed. Nice formula, great opacity. I didn't include a lightbox photo because it wasn't colour accurate and everything else seemed to be.

Can someone please tell me if it's "lightbox" or "light box". Wikipedia and Google said "lightbox" but the spell check on here says "light box".

Did you notice I switched between my left and right hand in the photos? These were taken on different days so my nails are different lengths, and I had to use my right hand one week because I broke a nail on my left hand.
