Nubar - 2010

This post is well overdue! I've had this polish for a long time now and have been meaning to post it ever since I got it! I thought I should post it soon before the flakie fever dies down.

Nubar - 2010
1 coat (Over Ulta3 - Black Satin)
Poshe Top Coat

Nubar - 2010 is a multi-chrome flakie polish in a clear base. The flakes change between yellow, orange and green, It was a little hard for me to capture this on camera. In real life the colour change is very noticeable. The colour change is most noticeable when worn over black.

Nubar - 2010 is a dupe for the highly desirable and discontinued Sally Hansen - Hidden Treasure.  I don't have Hidden Treasure for a comparison but 2010 has curbed my lemming for it.

You might also be interested in seeing 2010 over Sinful Colours - Fiji (which is my favourite combination) and a comparison with piCture pOlish - Splendour (which is now a limited edition).

Sorry about the macro shot, it's not the best quality.

Sinful Colors - Fiji

Sinful Colors - Fiji
4 coats
Poshe Top Coat

Fiji is a gorgeous purple shimmer. This is one of my original nail polishes. It does take 4 coats to reach full opacity though but it's worth it. I don't know if this colour is still available because I bought it a long time ago. It takes a long time to dry but this might be because it's so old. A fast drying top coat like Poshe or Seche really helps. I wore this a few months ago and the day after I added a coat of Nubar 2010, I loved the look so much I did it again so I could show you. I only used one coat of Nubar 2010, the flakes were more opaque in real life they seemed to disappear in the photo. Some did ask me to swatch this one, sorry it took me so long to post it!
Did you notice I used my right hand for the swatch?

piCture pOlish - Splendour

piCture pOlish - Splendour
2 coats over black
Poshe top coat

Splendour is one of the 3 flakie covers recently released by piCture pOlish. I didn't think we would see Splendour and Hypnotic until next year but they are available now. Splendour is a yellow/orange/red/green flakie polish. The little saying on the bottle is "magnificent, brilliant flakie finery" and I have to agree but just like Festival I wish these were a little more pigmented. Two coats is just enough coverage for me but it starts to put a cloudy haze over the base colour.

Splendour looked similar to Nubar - 2010 so I've compared the two below:

Sun

Lightbox

I used one coat of Nubar and two coats of Splendour for the picture above so you can see how much more pigmented 2010 is. Splendour has more irregular shaped flakes than 2010. Other than that they seem to be almost identical.

Birthday Haul

I have so much to swatch and the weather hasn't been good enough to get good pictures. I've swatched a few but didn't bother trying any purples because they are hard enough to photograph even when the sun is out.

Specialist Paints Holographic Flakes

Look at the holographicness!! I bought 150 grams worth of silver holographic flakes from Specialist Paints for $43.79 including postage. They didn't list Australia on their list of countries that they deliver to and I didn't notice this until after I had ordered and paid. I sent them an email to apologise and to see if they can still send it to Australia. They never replied and then a few days later the flakes showed up.

I don't think these holographic flakes are as fine as Spectraflair holographic pigment but it's so much cheaper. I've seen 25 grams of Spectraflair for $275!

I'll be posting swatches of these colours soon!
