The Great Aussie Polish Challenge Day 6: Coral Colours - Silk

Don't forget to enter my Blogiversary Giveaway and Nail Art Competition! There's three Born Pretty Store gift vouchers to be won. Entries close tomorrow!

 Coral Colours -  Silk
4 coats

Silk is a frosty purple shimmer. My bottle is really old. This was one of my original polishes from about 10 years ago. I think it was my mums and I claimed it as my own. It was my first favourite polish, I loved to use it for pedicures. It looks a little duochrome in the picture above but it's not really, it looks more like the bottle colour in person. My camera was just having a really hard time trying to focus on it.
My bottle was very dried up, you can see how it looked in the picture below before I added a heap of Seche Restore to it. I think this colour is still available today, it's listed on the Coral Colors website but it looks a lot darker. I want to buy a new bottle to see how it compares.

Sally Hansen HD - Hue

Sally Hansen HD - Hue
3 coats

Hue is a frosty yellow glass fleck shimmer. This one took it's time to dry and I kept bumping my nails on stuff. I always admire the Sally Hansen HD line in the store. All the colours look to pretty and I had planned to buy all of them eventually. I now have three of them. I just wish they weren't so expensive here! They are $13.95 each where I shop.

I hope all my Aussie and New Zealand followers have a great ANZAC Day! I can never convince myself to get out of bed and go to dawn service but I will be making ANZAC biscuits!

Gosh - Ocean

GOSH  - Ocean
2 coats

Ocean is a frosty green shimmer. You'll need to keep your brush strokes straight with this one as they are slightly visible after drying. In the bottle it looks duo-chrome but it doesn't transfer to the nail. It's weird how nail polish does that. The formula was good, it's fairly opaque so it's only a two coater. I just noticed I'm holding the bottle upside-down, and I've got bubbles on my middle finger, sorry about that. I'm quite happy with my first GOSH polish, looking forward to trying Gasoline next!

Ulta3 - Sweet Violet

Ulta3 - Sweet Violet
3 coats

Sweet Violet is a silvery purple toned frost. This finish is similar to Ulta3 - Jelly Bean. The first coat was quite sheer but it builds up nicely. I probably could have gotten away with two coats but I did three trying to even out my brush strokes. If you are careful with the brush strokes they don't show up. How do you all feel about frosts? I don't mind this one, I hope I'm not slowly starting to like frosts eeek! I don't think I am, I think this and Jelly bean must be the exceptions.

Ulta3 - Jelly Bean

Ulta3 - Jelly Bean
3 coats
Poshe Top Coat

Jelly Bean is a light frosty green with gold shimmer. I don't know any jelly beans this colour but it's still pretty and not bad for a frost. The formula was good, the lines show after drying but they aren't as visible as some of the other frosts I've tried. I don't have much else to say about this one. Frosts aren't really my thing, I will probably use this as a base coat for something.

Essie - Steel-ing The Scene

Shade

Sun

Essie - Steeling The Scene
3 coats
Seche Vite Top Coat

Steel-ing the scene is described on the Essie website as a burnished pewter creme. I think it's more of a shimmery pewter frost. The brush stroke marks are very visible so try to keep them straight. Frost nail polishes always give me that Grandma-ish feeling. Just noticed that I should have held the bottle the other way around so the word "essie" wasn't upside-down in all my photos. Whoops!

BYS - In Grape Shape

BYS - In Grape Shape
2 Coats
Top Coat: Amour

In Grape Shape is frosty metallic pink. You have to use neat brush strokes because they will still be visible after drying. The formula in my bottle was thick and sticky and would benefit from some nail polish thinner. I usually don't like frost finishes but this one is ok.
