piCture pOlish - Ruby Blou

Ruby Blou is one of the new glitter polishes that piCture pOlish released recently. Ruby Blou has a mix of small and large hex glitters in red, blue and silver. Each time I see this colour coronation I am reminded of the colours of the American flag even though the Australian flag uses the same colours. 

I wasn't sure what colour I wanted to layer this over so I got my boyfriend to choose. I'm glad he chose purple, I really like this combination.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the purple I used for the base is piCture pOlish - Wisteria.

piCture pOlish - Orbit 

Not really sure what happened to this post. I thought I'd scheduled it for last night.

I'm pretty sure this is silver glitter in a blue jelly base. I really love Orbit. Its pretty and opaque. Almost a one coater but I like to use two for depth. A Few Comparisons

I got two requests for comparisons so here they are:

Ulta3 - Lilac Bloom and Essie - Lilacism

These are close but not dupes. The Ulta3 is slightly more red toned.

Pretty Serious - Nightopia and piCture pOlish - Pshiiit

These can't be dupes because they have different finishes but this comparison was to see how similar the bases are. They look very similar to me.

August Haul

So I think I went a bit crazy this month after No Buy July. It didn't help that there was the piCture pOlish Blog Fest late last month, a Llarowe restock, Floam came back in stock on Ninja Polish and the new Pretty Serious collection was released! Most of this stuff I got in the last few days. Here's what I hauled this month:

Artsy Wednesday: Inspired By Jewellery

The theme for Artsy Wednesday this week is Inspired by Jewellery!

This weeks nail art was inspired by a ring my friend made.  She sells her stuff at the markets, she's @belrosedesign on Instagram if you're interested.

My nails don't look very arty but there is actually a bit of layering going on. I started with a base of Secret Peri-Wink-Le then sponged Wisteria over the top. I used a striping brush with Orchid to put some stripes on (this is hard to see in the picture). Then I sponged on Secret Peri-Wink-Le and Wisteria again.

Today is an exciting day for polish lovers! Today myself and about 80 other bloggers will be showing you swatches of new piCture pOlish shades! piCture pOlish is one of my favourite brands and I'm proud to say that they are Australian owned and made! I think the Blog Fest is a great way to show off piCture pOlish shades by flooding the nail blogging world with swatches.

I love piCture pOlish bottles! Rectangular bottles with round lids are the way to go. They line up perfectly and fit neatly in my Alex storage unit. The two shades I was given to review are Amethyst and Tease.

piCture pOlish - Tease

2 coats

Tease is a new Mesh shade. It's silver glitter in a pink jelly base. The formula was really nice. I don't normally choose pinks but I really liked how this looked on me. This is a little gritty so you'll need top coat. I used to foil method for removal.

piCture pOlish - Amethyst

3 coats

Amethyst is gorgeous, there's so much going on in this bottle! It has a purple jelly base, with blue shimmer and translucent flakes. It's like a purple version of Denim which I also love! The formula was a little thick but was easy to apply.

Amethyst is part of the new Collaboration collection and was jointly created by Susan from Star Trinkets. She's the piCture pOlish Network Member for Singapore. Amethyst is exclusive to piCture pOlish on-line and Star Trinkets.

Each piCture pOlish shade now comes with a QR label on the bottle. You can scan the label and it will take you straight to piCture pOlish on-line or a piCture pOlish Network Member depending on where the shade was purchased.

2 coats (layered over a black base)

Mask-a-rade is from the Opulence range that was released earlier this year. Mask-a-rade has multichrome hex glitters in a clear base. The colour shift goes yellow, orange, red, pink, green, blue then purple. The multichrome glitters look the same as the ones in the Ozotic Elytra collection. It's like all the Elytra polishes in one bottle.

This polish is now a limited edition but there are still bottles available for purchase on piCture pOlish on-line so if you like this one get it while you still can.

Yay Friday! I'm always excited for Friday but today more than most because my best friend came back from a 6 week Europe trip today! :)

Peacock is from the Opulence collection that was released earlier this year. It has small green hex glitter and very short green bar glitter with green shimmer in a purple base. Most of the swatches I saw of this were layered over a dark purple but it does build up on it's own.

piCture pOlish - Aphrodisiac

Aphrodisiac is a dark purple shimmer. It's got some fine silver shimmer in it when you look closely. It looks dark indoors but you can see the shimmer on the light. The formula was great. I bought this from piCture pOlish.

Also have you heard the saying bad luck comes in threes? Well that happened to me recently. First was smashing my iPhone screen, second was my computer monitor breaking and third was losing my fought-nightly train ticket. I actually asked my boyfriend to break something of mine after my monitor broke so I didn't have to wait for the third bad thing to happen. Luckily I could get a replacement monitor but I hope it's a while before i'm hit with three bad things again.

Good News and Bad News about piCture pOlish shades

Ok I'll give you the bad news first.

I've I just read a post on the piCture pOlish facebook page saying they they are making two of their flakie covers limited editions, Splendour and Hypnotic. Once they sell out they won't be making more! So if you've had your eye on either of them you better buy them quick! You can buy them from the piCture Polish website.
