Ulta3 - Black Satin
2 Coats
Poshe Top Coat
Black Satin is a black creme polish. Sorry about the bubbles, I'm down to the end of my top coat and it's getting a little thick. A few girls have been mentioning that the PRC formula is more opaque than the Australian formula. My bottle is made in PRC, I don't have an Australian made bottle to compare but I can tell you that the PRC one is very opaque. I would have used one coat for the picture above except there were very slight patches so I applied another coat. If I applied it more evenly it would have been a one coater.
I did a quick test to see if it works for stamping but I forgot to take photos. It works really well for stamping, I think this will be my new go to black for stamping. I also tested the PRC made Lily White and that also works for stamping. Was this good for stamping before? I don't have an Australian made bottle of Lily White either so I don't know.
Well, there may be one good thing that's come out of production moving overseas - more opaque formulas. Have you noticed any other PRC made Ulta3's that have a more opaque formula?
Very interesting...
ReplyDeleteI have 3 bottles of Black Satin. Just about every polish I buy gets swatched on a wheel over Black Satin (as well as without) and Black Satin is what I use under my Ozotics.
2 of my bottles are Australian and the other is PRC so I just swatched them side by side and yep there is an obvious difference. The PRC is much more opaque, definitely a single coater. The others need 2 coats and one is thinner than the other. Annoyingly the thinnest is my most recent purchase.
Thanks for making me aware of the difference.
You're welcome :)
DeleteBlack Satin will be my go to black for everything now. I used to use a $2 shop brand. I cant believe I never though to pick this up before.
Oh and my Lily White is Australian and too sheer for stamping.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to do a proper stamping test with Black Satin and Lily White. I'll post about it. :)
DeleteGlad to hear it's good for stamping! I haven't noticed if any of them are more/less opaque, but Confetti is very different, and Lollypop Lilac is more purple. Hopefully Lily White will also be super-opaque too!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check which version of Confetti I have, what's the difference? I'm going to do a stamping test with Lily White and Black Satin, stay tuned. :)
DeleteThat's nice that it's great for stamping! Sometimes even my black konad polish doesn't stamp well all the time. I really wish Ulta3 polishes were available where I am!
ReplyDeleteSorry Ulta3 is available where you are, there are brands I wish were available here too. *sigh*
DeleteThanks for this. Yep both my Australian Lily white and Black Satin are def two coaters. Looks like I will be adding to my Ulta3 collection to get different versions of existing polishes!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. :)
DeleteMost of my Ulta3's are PRC made, I've only really started collecting them when they went overseas. If I find any others that are super opaque I'll be sure to mention it.
Ulta3 polishes rock!
ReplyDeleteYeah I love Ulta3! I'm slowly collection the entire collection. :)
DeleteIt's really nice.
ReplyDeleteReally opaque and really cheap, can't get any better! :)
DeleteUlta3 Lily White is awesome quality, I will never need to splash out the cash for Alpine Snow!
ReplyDeleteSame here :)
Deletereally? my lily white is made in prc and its a really streaky and takes two coats. its my first ulta 3 nail polish so im not that impressed :(
DeleteSorry to hear that, sometimes they can be hit or miss. :(
DeleteMy favourites are Orchid, Pacific Fever and Cocoa. If you get any others have a look at those ones. :)
