Pretty Serious - Golden Ticket

When Pretty Serious announced their Golden Ticket Competition I was excited but didn't actually think I would win one. As I was cutting the tape on the sides of the package I convinced myself that there would be no ticket in there so I wouldn't be disapointed when I opened it. Well what did I see when I opened the box? A freaken Golden Ticket! Are you kidding me?! I was ecstatic!

There were 10 Golden Tickets to be found from the first 100 orders where at least one polish from the Christmas Without Snow collection was purchased. I purchased the whole collection so I'll have swatches of those up over the next few days. As much as I hate showing you a swatch of something you can't buy I really wanted to share this with you.

Golden Ticket has a mix of different sized holo gold hex glitter (and I think small gold hex glitter) and holo gold bar glitter in a shimmery gold base. It was a little hard to capture the holo in my light box but you can see some of it in the bottle in the picture above.

Ulta3 - Pot Of Gold

Pot Of Gold has a mix of different sized gold hex glitter in a clear base. No bleeders in this one, yay!  This bottle certainly does look like a little pot of gold. The glitter is so reflective that from a distance it looks like I'm wearing gold foils.

Pretty Serious - Mummy Mush

Mummy Mush is one interesting polish! Its a golden glass fleck that shifts from gold to pink and blue. I didn't realise there was a blue shift until I was inspecting the swatch in my notebook while typing this post. You can't see the blue flash in my photo but Kaz captured it in her post. Make sure you are careful applying your Mummy Mush. If you get any on your cuticles those glass flecks are stubborn and don't come off easily.

Again I thought this would need more than two coats but two coats was enough to cover any visible nail line. I guess I'm just not used to the great pigmentation quality of Pretty Serious polishes yet.

Halloween is coming up fast so I've scheduled another Halloween polish post in an hour.

Memo's Mind - Cosmic Bullet

Cosmic Bullet is very opaque, it barely needed the second coat. It drys fast and has a matte and gritty finish so you'll need a coat or two of top coat. I used Ulta3 - Top coat and then a coat of Seche Vite and it wasn't glassy smooth so you might need two coats of Seche Vite or another thick top coat. This also has some holo glitter, it's hard to see on my nails but you can see some red and green in the bottle

Memo's Mind polishes are scented but if you prefer you can order them without the fragrance. I love scented polishes and these have a pleasant smell. Memo's Mind polishes are now available in 15ml bottles.

Pretty Serious - Morning Java

Morning Java is from the Pretty Serious - Hello World collection 2012. It's a bronze gold shimmer with gold glass flecks. The formula was great! It was also really pigmented, I almost got away with one coat. I believe the name Morning Java refers to drinking coffee in the morning. I don't like coffee but I love this polish! I need to have about six spoons of sugar in my coffee for me to be able to drink it. I've got a big sweet tooth! Edit: to the coffee logo for applets run by Java.

Ulta3 - Metallic Crush Collection

I've decided to start posting entire collections in the same post rather than dragging it out over 8 days or so. Not that I buy entire collections very often but when I do this is what you'll get. Anyway, here's Ulta3's Metallic Crush collection - Autumn/Winter 2012!

Ulta3 - Antique Gold

2 coats

Antique Gold is a yellow gold metallic. I'm not much of a gold polish lover but this one is a pretty shade. Be careful with your brush strokes because this polish is not forgiving when It dries.

 Ulta3 - Copper

2 coats

Copper is an orange metallic. I would have loved this to be more pink toned like real life copper. Again brush strokes are visible with this one.

Ulta3 - Burnt Orange

2 coats

Burnt Orange is an orange creme with shimmer. Different from the rest of the collection. Ulta3 has a habit of making one polish a different finish from the rest. The Summer Siren collection were all cream's except for one shimmer and the Floral Fever Collection were all shimmer's except for one creme. 

Ulta3 - Pinot

2 coats

Pinot is a red metallic. Very similar to Shiraz which is also in this collection. I had to make sure I  included the name of each polish in their swatches so I couldn't get confused over which one was which.

Ulta3 - Shiraz

2 coats

Shiraz is a also a red metallic. There are slight differences between Shiraz and Pinot. I've put a comparison at the bottom of this post so you can see for yourself. The shimmer in Shiraz hides the brush stokes unlike the other shades.

 Ulta3 - Cocoa

2 coats

Cocoa is a dark brown metallic. I wasn't expecting to like this one more than any of the others but after swatching this one it turned out to be my favourite of the collection. The brush strokes weren't as noticeable as some of the other shades. I can't wait to wear this one again!

 Ulta3 - Enchanted

2 coats

Enchanted is a green shimmer in a deep plum base. In the bottle the green shimmer overpowers the base but on the nail it's a different story. When I first saw bottle pictures of this collection I thought Enchanted would be my favourite. I still like it, but not as much as I was expecting.

 Ulta3 - Jade

2 coats

Jade is a green frosty metallic. This is too frosty for my liking. It looks great in the bottle and I was expecting this to be really nice. This shows brush stokes easily.

The differences I noticed between these two is that Pinot is more opaque and slightly darker. The brush stokes are more noticeable with Pinot than with Shriaz, you can see that I was a little sloppy with the application on my ring finger. Shiraz has more of a shimmery finish than a metallic finish which helps hide the brush strokes. 

Even with the brush stroke issues I prefer Pinot.

Overall, I like this collection, but I was disappointed that Ulta3 released two very similar shades of red in the same collection!

Seche Vite Top Coat

Steel-ing the scene is described on the Essie website as a burnished pewter creme. I think it's more of a shimmery pewter frost. The brush stroke marks are very visible so try to keep them straight. Frost nail polishes always give me that Grandma-ish feeling. Just noticed that I should have held the bottle the other way around so the word "essie" wasn't upside-down in all my photos. Whoops!

Gold Rush Fever is from the Floral Fever Collection - Autumn/Winter 2011. It is a gold foil colour. You have to be careful with brush strokes with this one because they will still be slightly visible after it dries. I thought I could see some holographic glitter in the sun but it was hard to tell because it was very blinding to look at. I actually used 3 coats on my middle finger because I had a bald spot.
