China Glaze - Luxe and Lush

China Glaze - Luxe and Lush (over Smoke and Ashes)
1 coat

Luxe and Lush is from the China Glaze - Capitol Colors collection 2012. It's a duo-chrome foil flake polish. The colours change from orange, gold to green.I dabbed this on my nails rather than applying normally, this helped the flakes to spread out evenly. This dries dull and the flakes stick out so you'll need top coat. I used one coat of Ulta3 - Non Chip and then two coats of Seche Vite.

This is the combination I wore to the movie last night.

Nubar - 2010

This post is well overdue! I've had this polish for a long time now and have been meaning to post it ever since I got it! I thought I should post it soon before the flakie fever dies down.

Nubar - 2010
1 coat (Over Ulta3 - Black Satin)
Poshe Top Coat

Nubar - 2010 is a multi-chrome flakie polish in a clear base. The flakes change between yellow, orange and green, It was a little hard for me to capture this on camera. In real life the colour change is very noticeable. The colour change is most noticeable when worn over black.

Nubar - 2010 is a dupe for the highly desirable and discontinued Sally Hansen - Hidden Treasure.  I don't have Hidden Treasure for a comparison but 2010 has curbed my lemming for it.

You might also be interested in seeing 2010 over Sinful Colours - Fiji (which is my favourite combination) and a comparison with piCture pOlish - Splendour (which is now a limited edition).

Sorry about the macro shot, it's not the best quality.

Australis - Speck-tacular

I was in Priceline the other day and as always wandered into to cosmetics aisle just to have a look and I spotted a little nail polish stand in the Australis section. I've never noticed this polish before so I have no idea when it was released. I can't find anything on their website.

 Australis - Speck-tacular
2 Coats over black
Poshe Top Coat

Speck-tacular is a multicoloured flakie polish. The colours range from blue, green, orange and yellow. This wasn't particularly opaque but I was happy with the coverage of two coats. You might notice some tip wear in the photos, I had been wearing it for 24 hours already. I will compare this to the other flakies I own soon. Has anyone else spotted this in stores? I wonder if any of the other brands that are cheap and easily available in Australia will release flakies. I got this from Priceline for $8.95.

piCture pOlish - Hypnotic

Because of the boring posts over the last few days I decided to give you two interesting posts in the same day to try to make up for it. If you didn't see my other post for today I'll link to it here after I wake up because I'm not sure if I can link to a scheduled post before it's posted.

Hypnotic is on of the three new piCture pOlish flakie covers. Hypnotic is a Green/Blue/Red flakie polish in a milky base. I wish this one was more pigmented too but at least it doesn't put the cloudy haze over the base as bad as Splendour does. The saying on the bottle is "flake out it's a state of mind!". I think I may have flaked out when I got these in the mail yesterday.

So now that you've seen all three of the piCture polish flakie covers you might be wondering what it looks like if you combine them:

1 coat of each over black

Splendour is one of the 3 flakie covers recently released by piCture pOlish. I didn't think we would see Splendour and Hypnotic until next year but they are available now. Splendour is a yellow/orange/red/green flakie polish. The little saying on the bottle is "magnificent, brilliant flakie finery" and I have to agree but just like Festival I wish these were a little more pigmented. Two coats is just enough coverage for me but it starts to put a cloudy haze over the base colour.

Splendour looked similar to Nubar - 2010 so I've compared the two below:

I used one coat of Nubar and two coats of Splendour for the picture above so you can see how much more pigmented 2010 is. Splendour has more irregular shaped flakes than 2010. Other than that they seem to be almost identical.

piCture pOlish - Festival

I managed to get home early from work after the Christmas party so I had time to swatch Festival. There was barely any sun left in my backyard and it kept disappearing behind the clouds so some photos aren't in the best light. Please excuse the state of my nails, two of them are broken and I need to grow them out so I can shape them properly.

Festival over Black
2 Coats

Festival is a multicoloured flakie polish. It has orange, yellow, green and blue flakes. This is gorgeous! I used two coats because one coat wasn't enough. The formula was thick but I think that's because it's a suspension nail polish base. If your going to wear top coat over this either make sure it's dry, or wipe off your brush after each nail, otherwise you will get some stray flakes in your top coat.  The black I'm wearing is just a no name $2 shop black nail polish, the brand is "e". This is still available from piCture pOlish, I got mine during the pre-sale.  piCture pOlish is bringing out more flakies next year! You can see previews on their website. Here's the  macro shot:

Here's Festival over other colours, you can see the sun light slowly decreasing in each photo. I ran out of sunlight while doing Denim but I included it anyway.

Festival over piCture pOlish - Wisteria

Festival over Sally Hansen - Pronto Purple

Festival over piCture pOlish - Watermelon

Festival over piCture pOlish  - Denim

So what do you think of piCture pOlish's first flakie? I love it! I can't wait for the others. One looks like it's a blue/aqua/red flakie and the other looks similar to Nubar 2010 a red/orange/green flakie.
