This week we are doing nail art that is inspired by graffiti. The graffiti that I chose isn't really inspiring but it's something I see everyday on the way to work so it stuck in my head and was the first thing I though of for this theme.

Artsy Wednesday: Easter

I really really love how this turned out! It easy to do but did take some time. I've got a tutorial below to show how i created it. If you don't have striping tape you can cut thin strips of regular tape. Make sure the white polish has time to dry before you add the matte top coat or you will smudge the white stripes. If you don't have a matte top coat you can use a regular top coat for a glossy version.

Artsy Wednesday - Colour Blocking

We've decided to move Artsy Wednesday to every other week rather than weekly. I missed the last one so it's been a whole month since my last Artsy Wednesday post! 

I used neon colours so I used a white base to make the neon stand out. I started with a few coats of Atomic Oj over the Lily White base. Once that was dry I applied some tape down one side of my nail and painted on a few coats of Purple Pumps. You can see I was a bit impatient on my pinky nail and the polish lifted up when I removed the tape.

I used a nail art brush to apply Frostbite to the tips of my nails and finished with a coat of Seche Vite top coat.

My poor broken nail has grown out just enough so that I could file them to the same length. It's been three weeks since I broke it. This post shows how short it was when I broke it if you're interested to see how much it's grown. I've only got one more swatch photo saved up from before the break and then I'll be sticking to nail art until it grows out a little more.

Artsy Wednesday - Inspired By The View Out Of Your Window

This weeks theme is inspired by the view out of your window. Most of the time the view out of the window of my polish room is my pup Hazel. 

I didn't think I had a chance at drawing a lifelike Hazel on my nails but I could surely stamp some paw prints. I was already wearing Pretty & Polished Jawbreaker so I decided to just stamp over the top.

Artsy Wednesday: Earthquake

Earthquake nails are not something I've seen a lot of but I like them. I asked my boyfriend to pick the colours and this is what he chose, I think he did well. 

To create this look you need to paint one colour on your nails as normal and then paint the other colour down one side of your nails only. Don't worry about getting the line too neat. Use a nail art brush to create the jagged line down the middle and that's it. It's very simple.

Artsy Wednesday - Butterfly Wing

I've been looking forward to this theme. I've seen lots of pretty butterfly win manicures and wanted to have a go at one myself. Up close mine looks kind of messy but from afar it looked good. 

I started with three coats of I'm With The Lifeguard and then sponged on Frostbite in the bottom corner. Once it had dried a bit I used the striping brush and Black Satin to create the lines and a larger nail art brush to fill in the tips. I used a dotting tool and Lily White to add dots of various sizes over the black tips.

Artsy Wednesday - Christmas

My friend Jess asked me to do Candy Cane nails so that's the design I've chosen for Astsy Wednesday this week since it's Christmas themed.

  

Candy Cane nails are quite simple to do you only need red and white polish and some tape.

               NAIL POLISH INFO 

Polish Used:
China Glaze - Ruby Pumps
Ulta3 - Lily White

Tools Needed:
Tape
Scissors

Start by applying the red polish, I used China Glaze - Ruby Pumps. You need to let the base dry completely before moving onto the next step. I used a coat of Seche Vite to speed up the drying time.

Once the base is dry, cut thin even strips of tape and apply them diagonally on each nail leaving an even gap between each strip. Press the tape down at the edges to stop the polish from getting underneath the tape. Once the tape is on your nails apply the white polish over the top. You can either peel the tape off straight away or wait for the white polish to dry. I prefer to remove the tape straight away for a crisper line. Make sure you peel the tape of carefully for either method.

Let the white polish dry a bit before adding top coat so you don't smudge the lines.

Artsy Wednesday - Glitter Gradient

A glitter gradient is easy to do. You just need two or more nail polishes. I applied Gingerbread to half of my nail near the cuticles and then I applied Candy Cane to the other half at the tips. I overlapped each layer slightly in the middle. After three coats of each polish I was done.

Artsy Wednesday: Tape

I used Calypso Holiday for the base and then used two different blue coloured striping tape in a diagonal line across each nail. I used some small nail scissors to cut the tape nice and close to my nails. I then used a coat of Seche Vite over the top to seal the tape in. I got my striping tape from eBay.

Artsy Wednesday - Movember

I used Blue Heaven for the base and stamped the moustaches in Black Satin. I didn't have a moustache stamp so I used something that looked like a moustache. I'm not quite sure what it is but it's on Bundle Monster plate BM07. It could be wings. I filled it in with Black Satin using a nail art brush.

Artsy Wednesday - Glitter Sandwich

Glitter sandwhich manis are really easy! Probably easier than a real sandwich. All you need is a jelly polish and a glitter polish. The jelly polish is the bread and the glitter polish is the filling.

You start with a coat or two of the jelly polish then add the glitter on to of that. Then finish it off with one coat of the jelly polish again and you're done!

Artsy Wednesday - Drag Marble

I was supposed to post this last night but I ran out of time, this week has gone really quick and I didn't realise it was Wednesday already! 

I started with a base of Soft Hydrangea, I used one coat to start with then worked on one nail at a time. I applied a second coat of Soft Hydrangea and then added three dots using Hollywood before the base dried. Then I used a dotting tool to create the drag pattern through each dot.
