Gosh - Ocean

GOSH  - Ocean
2 coats

Ocean is a frosty green shimmer. You'll need to keep your brush strokes straight with this one as they are slightly visible after drying. In the bottle it looks duo-chrome but it doesn't transfer to the nail. It's weird how nail polish does that. The formula was good, it's fairly opaque so it's only a two coater. I just noticed I'm holding the bottle upside-down, and I've got bubbles on my middle finger, sorry about that. I'm quite happy with my first GOSH polish, looking forward to trying Gasoline next!

April Haul

This month I did a swap with Nail Loopy from the UK. Here are the goodies she sent me:

Nicole by O.P.I - Holiday's Glaze
Nicole by O.P.I - Holly-Pop Red
GOSH - Gasoline
GOSH - Ocean

Deborah - Lippmann - Razzle Dazzle
Max Factor - Fantasy Fire
FCUK - Unnamed Purple/Blue Shimmer

Revlon - Stormy
Sally Hansen HD - Hue
Barry M - Mint Green

Thanks so much Nail Loopy! I love them all!

I'll be trying the GOSH polishes first. I'll have to find a good base for Fantasy Fire. I had a look at my blues but I don't think I have one that will look right. I know Revlon - Royal is a good match but it's a bit pricey. Does anyone have another suggestion for a good base for Fantasy Fire?

Nothing in the top row really interests me but I like the look of Suzi & The 7 Dusseldorfs, Every Month Is Oktoberfest, Unfor-greta-bly Blue and German-icure by OPI. It would be great if the mini set included those four!

What are you eyeing from this collection?

Revlon - Colada Fizz

Revlon - Colada Fizz
3 coats

Colada Fizz has silver glass flecks in a sheer light blue base. I'm not really sure what this one smells like. It just seams to be a sweeter smelling nail polish odour. The base is really sheer, after three coats my nails have just the slightest blue tint. It kind of looks like my nails are frozen.

I don't have a sky blue polish (I'll have to fix that) so I layered it over the lightest blue I own - Ulta3 - Blue heaven:

Revlon - Grapefruit Fizz

Revlon - Grapefruit Fizz
4 coats

Grapefruit Fizz has pink, gold and silver glass flecks in a sheer pink jelly base. I guessing this polish is supposed to represent pink grape fruits. I'm not to familar with them so I can't tell you if the smell matches. The polish has a sweet tangy smell. This looks horrible on it's own on me!

I chose to layer Grapefruit Fizz over Color Club - Yum Gum:

I'm not much of a pink fan but I love how Yum Gum looks on me, why wasn't I wearing it all summer?

Revlon - Apple-tini Fizz

Revlon - Apple-tini Fizz
3 coats

Apple-tini Fizz has green and blue glass flecks in a sheer yellow toned green jelly base. This looks horrible on the nail by itself! It smells like green apples, but I'm not sure if I just think that because of the name and the colour.

I layered Apple-tini Fizz over Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Lickety-Split Lime:

This is much better! Sorry about my cuticles in this photo, we weren't getting along today.

Revlon - Grape Fizz

Revlon - Grape Fizz
3 coats

Grape Fizz has blue and purple glass flecks in a sheer scented purple jelly base. I don't think this one will build up to bottle colour. If it's not even close after 3 coats I give up. It looks more opaque on my ring and pinky finger but that's just because of the angle they are on. Look how pretty it is in the bottle! It's such a shame. This smells just like the cherry flavoured soft chew lollies from the Natural Confectionery Company. I didn't smell grape at all.

I decided to layer this over my favourite purple, Ulta3 - Orchid:

Revlon - Grape Fizz
2 coats over Ulta3 - Orchid

Now this is more like it! It looks just like the bottle colour. If you have both Grape Fizz and Orchid try this layering combo.

Artsy Wednesday - Stripes

The theme for Artsy Wednesday this week is Stripes!

Colours used:
Ulta3 - Black Satin
Ulta3 - Pinot
Ulta3 - Antique Gold

I started with a base of Black Satin. Then I used a striping brush to create the lines with Pinot and Antique Gold. After seeing how well some of the Ulta3 - Metallic Crush nail polishes stood out on black (see post here) I wanted to do another mani with them.

Luckily this weeks theme was something simple because  I started this at 9:00pm and it's now 9:55. Artsy Wednesday posts go live in 5 minutes! I'm cutting it a bit close this week. Now, I think I deserve some ice cream.

Revlon - Mint Fizz

Revlon - Mint Fizz
3 coats

Mint Fizz has silver glitter flakes and blue shimmer in a blue jelly base. This is also scented, I think it smells more like peppermint than mint. I've got mint in my garden and it smells completely different. I don't own all of the Revlon Fizz collection polishes but out of the ones I do own, this is the only one that will build up to bottle colour.

Make sure you use a base coat for this one! I only wore it for about 10 minutes while I was swatching so I didn't bother using base coat (lesson learnt). When I took it off it had stained my nails. You can see some staining on my index finger that I couldn't remove when cleaning up my cuticles. Luckily the staining wore off after a few days.

Lynnderella - Love Potion No. 99

I hope you all had a happy and safe Easter yesterday. Sorry I've had no posts this weekend. I took photos before I went away but didn't have time to edit them and schedule posts. But, I've got a pretty Lynnderella polish to show you, I hope that makes up for it!

I went to Canberra for the Easter long weekend and met up with one of my favorite bloggers Cathy from More Nail Polish. It was so fun talking about nail polish with someone who didn't think I was nuts! She very kindly gave me Lynnderella - Love Potion No. 99. Thank you so much Cathy! I kept looking at in in the car on the way home, it's so pretty! I couldn't wait to swatch it.

I never thought that I would ever own a Lynnderella polish. If I was able to buy Lynnderella polishes this would have been the first one I'd choose.

Lynnderella - Love Potion No. 99
1 coat over Ulta3 - Orchid

Love Potion No. 99 has a mixture of glitter in a purple jelly base. I can see square purple glitter, purple hex glitter, smaller holographic glitter, also the occasional pink square and hex glitter. They don't show up in the photo but they are there if you see this in person. This is so pretty! Perfect for a purple lover like me.

BYS - Phantom

BYS - Phantom
3 coats

Phantom is a magenta jelly polish with pink and blue shimmer and square silver glitter. This had a really nice formula. It applied smoothly. Most of the other BYS polishes I've tried have been thick so I was a little surprised.
I actually picked this up by accident. It was in on of those plastic boxes for the Wonderland collection and I didn't realise I had the wrong one until I got home. I didn't like how this on looked in the bottle and it sat in my untried pile for ages. When I swatched it I realised I liked it on the nail much more than in the bottle. I wasn't planning on wearing it as a full mani but that's what ended up happening.

Have you been pleasantly surprised by an ugly bottle of polish?

Artsy Wednesday - Easter

The theme for Artsy Wednesday this week is Easter!

Colours used:
Ulta3 - Lily White
Ulta3 - Blue Heaven
Ulta3 - Violet Rumble
Ulta3 - Lemon Tart
Ulta3 - Strawberry Sundae
Ulta3 - Kiwi Kaos

I started with two coats of Lily White for the base. Then I got my large dotting tool and randomly placed five dots of each colour on each nail. I think I did six dots of the same colour on one nail. Can anyone spot it?
I was picturing a more pastel look but I still like how it turned out. If you're using dots make sure you wait for them to dry before putting a top coat on or they will smudge.

China Glaze - Summer Neons Collection Preview

Summer Neons is of course the Summer 2012 collection from China Glaze. It includes nine shimmers and three cremes. I didn't think I'd be getting any from this collection because I already have neons, but... neon shimmers, I don't have any of those! I'll have to wait until I see swatches before I make up my mind about getting any.

Ulta3 - Pink Colada

Ulta3 - Pink Colada
2 coats

Pink Colada is a red toned dark pink creme, or maybe it's a pink toned red. It's right in the middle of those colours so it's hard to tell. I think I'll go with red toned pink because of the name.  The formula was good, my bottle was made in Australia so if you've got a PRC made one yours may differ.

Last year Ulta3 kindly sent me one of their gift packs with three nail polishes in it. I'm only just getting around to swatching them now. I really have to work on my untried pile. I'm going to Canberra this long weekend to stay with family maybe I can get some swatching done. I'll try to have some scheduled posts up for you to read.

The product in this post was provided to me for review. See my disclosure policy for more information.

Australis - Satine

Australis - Satine
3 coats

Satine is a milky beige jelly. I assume this is meant to be worn sheer but it was too streaky for me.    This would probably work well for French tips. I haven't done French tips for a very long time now. That was all I would really wear before my obsession. Either French, pink or purple of course.

I went away down the coast on the weekend and have come back to 97 unread posts on BlogLovin'. It's going to take me a while to catch up! If you don't already follow me on BlogLovin' you can find me here.
